Invitation to Winter School on Safety in Snow Sports

Dear Students,

We are thrilled to unveil the Blended Intensive Program (BIP-ID 2023-1-SI01-KA131) addressing safety challenges in snow sports: "Winter School on the Challenges of Safety in Snow Sports: From Theory to Field Measurements."

Hosted by: University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Sport (SI LJUBLJA01)

Key Dates:

Virtual Component: February 16, 2024, to March 1, 2024 (Compulsory online lessons)

Physical Part: March 6, 2024, to March 15, 2024 (Mandatory attendance for students)

  • Start Day: March 6, 2024 (Evening event at 18:00, to be confirmed)
  • Field Test Sessions: Kraniska Gora Valley
  • Closing Day: March 15, 2024

 

Program Highlights: Join us for a distinctive opportunity to explore the safety challenges of winter sports. The program features:

  • Theoretical lectures by experienced professors in Sports Engineering
  • Practical sessions on sensor application
  • Hands-on experience with safety systems for winter sports equipment

Lectures by world-renowned professors and researchers on the topics of snowsports safety and medicine (Sunday evening to Friday Evening)

 

Focus Areas:

  • Safety considerations for skis, snowboards, and cross-country skis
  • Impact of equipment, design solutions, and protective gear on safety
  • Possibility of conducting a pilot research project

 

Program Components:

  • Online lectures before the Winter School
  • Preparation, equipment presentation, and possible pilot tests (Thursday)
  • On-snow measurements (Friday and Saturday)
  • Data processing and presentations (Sunday)
  • Optional skiing (if time permits)
  • Student project presentations

Lectures by world-renowned professors and researchers on the topics of snowsports safety and medicine (Sunday evening to Friday Evening)

 

Application Procedure: Students from partner institutions mentioned above can apply at their home institution. After having successfully passed the selection process at the home institution, students should contact the international office at the Faculty of Sport in Ljubljana (jozef.krizaj@fsp.uni-lj.si) for final acceptance.
